Grant Recipients Give us Purpose
Here are a few of our 2022-2023 grant recipients
-
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.S.
The grant was so helpful in getting the school store stocked to begin the school year. We were able to purchase several of our top selling items as well as some new additions that have gotten students so excited to earn Knights tickets to shop at the store.
We also welcomed new members of our safety patrol this school year. We used some of the grant money to purchase lanyards and safety vests for our new agents.
Finally, we were able to purchase a green screen and other equipment for our student news team. This year the student leaders and news team are working together to create videos that highlight our student population and what makes us all special and unique. They will be using the new equipment received to create news clips on student talents, cultures, and celebrations that will be shared with the whole school. We are very thankful to have received foundation grant money to get Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.S up and running this school year!

Software Update for HS Graphics Communication Students
Students were the ones that brought the idea of this software to me a few years ago. As I brought this up with my current students, they immediately thought of different applications and how they could apply this technology for the betterment of their high school experience as well as how their skills would translate. It is exciting when you see students take an idea and transfer concepts from other classes to develop a cohesive direction of an idea.

Classroom Updates to Multi-tiered Systems of Support
In order to meet the needs of our students and promote a more collaborative working environment, MTSS would like to offer more flexible seating options. Desks, tables, and chairs on wheels would allow students and teachers to move and arrange furniture into small groups or pods for collaborative learning.
The MTSS rooms are in the oldest part of the High School building and the space is not very inviting or comfortable.
The majority of students that utilize MTSS are at risk academically and/or social-emotionally. Best practice says students work best in a collaborative, safe, and welcoming environments. Our students are finding caring, supportive adults and peers in MTSS that want them to be successful students. This grant has helped our physical environment match our compassionate tone needed for that success.
